Skin Conditions

Rosacea Treatments

Rosacea is a common skin condition that causes redness and acne-like reactions to the skin. While there is no cure, this condition can be controlled with the correct products and proper treatment, as well as avoiding certain triggers.

Rosacea consists of:

  • Redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead
  • Small visible blood vessels on the face
  • Bumps or pimples on the face
  • Watery or irritated eyes

We treat Rosacea with a very aggressive skin care protocol, similar to what we recommend for our acne patients. We also recommend IPL/Photofacial treatments for these clients to help minimize the redness on their cheeks and the small blood vessels.

Acne Treatments

If you suffer from acne, the last thing you need is a dictionary definition of it. You know what it is. It’s painful, both physically and emotionally. It can turn a previously happy, bright, and outgoing person into a painfully shy, self conscious and depressed person.

You don’t need a dictionary definition, but for those who do, we will explain acne as the medical condition is. Acne vulgaris is a long-term skin disease that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with dead skin cells, oil, and bacteria. Acne is characterized by blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts. The latter three can cause moderate to severe scarring if not treated correctly. We have the necessary treatments to provide clearing of current lesions as well as the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and pitted scarring from past lesions.

It is important to remember that acne is thought to be a hereditary condition and is not caused from lack of cleanliness. It is thought by many that some foods may contribute to its severity and certain cosmetics may clog the pores, but these factors do not in and of themselves cause acne. Some habits, including smoking cigarettes, do increase the risk of developing acne and also worsen its severity.

Our clinic strongly suggests coming in for a complimentary consultation prior to scheduling for a treatment. A licensed esthetician who is trained in treating skin conditions will assess your skin and recommend the most appropriate treatment and skin care protocol. The appropriate home care is reviewed and it is required that you follow the prescribed protocol in order to get the best results and clear the skin as quickly as possible. The esthetician may consult with the client about certain lifestyle habits that may also be contributing to the breakouts and that may hinder the progress. Advice and recommendation about lifestyle choices are likely to be included.

Any of the following treatments are recommended for our acne clients:

ZO Medical 3-Step Peel
VI Precision Plus Peel for hyperpigmentation
Bellafill for acne scarring
Acne Laser
Microneedling for acne scarring
ZO acne skin care protocol

Melasma Treatments

The symptoms of melasma are dark, irregular hyperpigmented spots to patches that cover areas of the face. These patches often develop gradually over time and are usually associated with a surge in certain hormones. While, not physically harmful, this cosmetic condition can be very embarrassing for many women and leads them to use full coverage makeup in order to mask the condition.

Melasma is a condition that will always need to be managed as it is not a curable condition. Usually the darker Fitzpatrick skin types are more prone to it including Hispanic, Asian, and African Americans. Religious sun protection is mandatory, as any kind of sun exposure can bring it back after treatment.

During your initial consultation, we will recommend the appropriate melanocyte management home care system as well as the proper professional treatments which may include:

ZO Medical 3-Step Peel
IPL Treatment
